St. Xavier College, Jalukie | Established 2005
Motto: Learn & Transform
Established in 2005, the Department of Political Science began with a General Program, later launching the Honours Program under temporary affiliation in 2008 and earning permanent affiliation in 2011 under Nagaland University. The department is committed to building a strong academic foundation in political studies while promoting civic responsibility and critical thinking among students.
The department aspires to be a knowledge hub for political education, empowering students through academic excellence and nurturing them into informed, engaged citizens.
The department fosters academic and personal growth through regular mentoring. Faculty mentors guide students in academics, careers, and civic engagement. These one-on-one interactions ensure tailored support for each student’s development and future planning.
The department promotes hands-on learning through internships in NGOs or government offices. These experiences offer insight into real-world governance, administration, and policy-making. Students develop soft skills, grow networks, and gain clarity on career goals—all under the guidance of faculty mentors.
