GRIEVANCE REDRESS CELL

The Grievance Redressal Cell of St. Xavier College, Jalukie is set up to look into any complaints directed to them pertaining to academics including errors in evaluation, discipline, infrastructure etc. It is a committee which has been put in place to ensure a smooth interface between the students, faculty and the administration. Grievances related to discrimination are also taken up by the grievance Redressal Cell.

The grievance cell is further categorised into Students Grievance Redressal Cell and staff Grievance Redressal Cell

To redress the students’ and Staff’ grievances, the complaint/suggestion boxes have been placed in the College outside the Principal’s office for easy communication of any grievances. Besides, students and staffs are free to approach the Student Grievance Redressal Cell, Principal, Vice Principal as well as any staff member of the college for discourse or suggestion.

Student’s grievance cell

Introduction: The Students Grievance cell attempts to address the day to day issues of concern relating to academics and routine activities.

Objectives

✱ To provide a support system for the students to address the major academic related issues.
✱ To initiate proactive measures to solve the issues of student’s concern.
✱To analyse the grievances of students and to take corrective action with the appropriate authorities for redressal.
✱ To get suggestions regularly from the students for improvement.

Procedure:

Students are encouraged to meet the Cell to address their suggestions and grievances.

1. The students can explain their problems to the counselling committee as and when required.
2. The counselling committee interacts with the students regarding their nature of problems.
3. If any grievance was found the same was recorded in the register and addressed.
4. They may also approach their respective mentors or any of their other teachers.
5. Students may also express their problems related to attendance, discipline to the committee.
6. The Students Grievance cell will enquire the grievances and recommend the final course of action to be initiated at the institutional level for the redressal of the same.
7. Any student may approach the committee members, if he/she has any grievance regarding academic and non-academic matters and the committee will take up necessary action.

Note :-

1. Students are requested to note that they have to take the remedial measures serious and try to adopt it.
2. At the same time, the college assures students that it would provide all support to overcome their problems and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

1. The grievances at departmental level are governed by the concerned mentors, class Coordinators and Department Heads then and there.
2. Unresolved grievances at the departmental level are referred to the Students counselling committee of the institution.

Academic Staff Grievance Redressal Cell:

The Academic Staff Grievance Redressal Cell aims to look into the complaints lodged by any academic and redress it as per requirement. Any Xavierite Academic staff can come forward with grievances concerning issues or matters related to the college. The cell is solely constituted to encourage academic staff to express their grievances/Complaints/ problems freely, frankly and in a constructive way so as to foster a supportive and pleasant workplace for everyone.

Scope

The policy refers to all the Academic Staff in the college regardless of position and status.

Procedure for Lodging Complaint

1. Any academic staff with a genuine grievance may approach the teacher in- charge in person or may drop the concern in the "Staff Grievance Drop Box” placed outside the Principal’s office.
2. The Academic Grievance Redressal Cell will act upon those grievances accordingly with suitable person or persons, in charges etc as per the nature of the grievance.
3. The cell aims at bringing a solution to all matters amicably and at its earliest.
4. The cell is not responsible for taking up personal or private issues.
